| 2:30pm | Main Session II: Report Back from Gaza: The Legal Implications of Israel's Onslaught Location: UNLH 1000 After the recent, bloody Israeli offensive in Gaza, Reem Salahi traveled to the region as part of a National Lawyers Guild delegation. Their job was to assess the effects of the attacks and determine what, if any, violations of international humanitarian law occurred and whether US domestic law had been violated as a consequence. Having returned, Salahi has been traveling through the United States presenting what they found. She will share the stories of the people of Gaza through photographs and video footage. Salahi spoke to families and workers impacted, as well as medical personnel, heads of NGOs, and United Nations Representatives. |

Yet, oftentimes, we lack the understanding of our Islamic Legacy and the tools necessary to emulate our predecessors. This session will focus on the importance of learning and maintaining a connection with our rootsso we canbuild upon that legacy. |

| 8:15pm | Main Session IV: The Pursuit of Happiness Speakers: Amir Abdel Malik Ali & Shaykh Muhammad ibn al-Faqih Location: Commons 302 The American Declaration of Independence states that everyone has certain unalienable rights, one of these being the pursuit of happiness. Yet, what defines happiness? This session addresses the definition of happiness from an Islamic perspective. Can we ever reach a point in our lives where we are truly happy and content with what we have, or will we always want more? This session will discuss how a Muslim can be successful in pursuing happiness in this life and in the Hereafter. |

| 1:00pm | Main Session V: Alternative Activism Location: Commons 302 This panel discussion will focus on the Muslim Ummah’s need for more people to spread the basic principles of Islam: to enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and to speak out against any injustices committed through new and creative forms of activism. Activism is not merely going to a demonstration, a march or a protest. Activism can be expressed through writing an article, posting a blog, or portraying injustices through art. Come learn how student activists can channel their talents into a just cause and how to gain an audience who will listen. |

| 2:45pm | Main Session VI: A Final Word, the Time is Now Location: Commons 302 Many of us know what it takes to change ourselves and improve the society we live in but we just don’t act. Procrastination is a serious challenge and part of the problem is the lack of a sense of urgency. This session will inspire you with that missing link and a game plan to get busy and set out to exact the change we so desperately desire. So be prepared to listen, learn and most importantly ACT! |
